are presented. Several echocardiographic abnormalities were observed, namely (I) diastolic fluttering of the anterior mitral leaflet, (2) dilatation of the 'aortic' root, (3) four 'aortic' valve cusp echoes, (4) separation of the 'aortic' cusps during diastole, (5) dilatation of the right ventricle with paradoxical motion of the septum, (6) the anterior wall of the 'aorta' was anterior to the septum and the posterior 'aortic' wall posterior to the closed position of the mitral valve. The significance of these findings is discussed.

Diagnosis of persistent truncus arteriosus by two-dimensional echocardiography: a case study.
Two-dimensional echocardiography of a patient revealed overriding of the large aortic trunk which bifurcated above the semilunar valve, suggesting persistent truncus arterious. This diagnosis was confirmed by cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography. Surgery and autopsy also confirmed the accuracy of the two dimensional echocardiographic findings. Two-dimensional echocardiography is thus v...
متن کاملRespiratory distress due to bronchial compression in persistent truncus arteriosus.
Clinical and pathologic findings are described in a seven-month-old boy who suffered from persistent truncus arteriosus and suddenly developed signs of respiratory distress. Bronchial compression in patients with persistent truncus arteriosus has only rarely been reported.
متن کاملPersistent Truncus Arteriosus with Aortic Dominance in Female Adult Patient
Persistent truncus arteriosus categories associated with different natural histories and various surgical approaches were reported. Although pulmonary overflow and severe heart failure are common, some patients who have hypoplastic pulmonary artery systems may show lesser symptoms of heart failure and remain in relatively stable condition. We experienced a 33-year-old woman with uncorrected typ...
متن کاملPhonocardiographic Findings in Persistent Truncus Arteriosus * BENJAMIN
Persistent truncus arteriosus is characterized by a single arterial trunk arising from the heart and supplying the systemic, pulmonary, and coronary circulations. There are remnants neither of an atretic pulmonary artery nor aorta (Lev and Saphir, 1942; Collett and Edwards, 1949). Despite excellent clinical reviews (Anderson, Obata, and Lillehei, 1957; Tandon, Hauck, and Nadas, 1963; McCue et a...
